Jay Smith

Cultural Architect, Convergence Arts Initiative and the Church at Convergence

Biography

Jay Smith is the cultural architect at Convergence Church. He is also the resident guitarist for (what he thinks is) one of the top three most influential bands in all relevant music history: Middle Distance Runner. MDR is his pick for desert island band and Grammy awards in most categories (even in years they haven’t released albums.) Like music, he loves to synthesize all of the parts of Convergence and arrange them together into a beautiful functional work of art. Smith studied multi-media web design at George Washington University and was a Regional Graphics Supervisor at BAE Systems for seven years before bringing his experience to Convergence to help create a functional and vibrant community. He is passionate about Convergence because he believes that our world is desperate for change that can only come through the arts and spirituality. Smith currently serves on the Church on Missions Group for NorthStar Church Network. He loves gardening and playing video games where he can either build or destroy things.
